Description
Steve Lindeman was accepted into the BMI Composers Workshop where he was able to study for three years with the great Jim McNeely. During that time, Steve developed an original and creative style that is epitomized in the charts recorded on this album. It is truly a breath of fresh air. McNeely himself says that with this project, Steve Lindeman has made a “major statement”. Steve’s music required a lot of woodwind doubling and sensitivity. It is very difficult music to perform well. Remarkably, this recording was made by Synthesis, BYU’s premier jazz ensemble, recently named the Top University Big Band in the Country for 2013 by Downbeat Magazine. They are assisted by members of Q’d Up, BYU’s Faculty Jazz Ensemble.
